Candidate Statement

David B. Stromberg

I am running for Town Council to safeguard Moraga’s core values.

My record as a Moraga Planning Commissioner demonstrates my responsiveness to community input and my unwavering commitment to protecting Moraga’s unique beauty and rural feel. Our remaining open spaces should be covered with wildflowers, not housing developments. To that end, I voted for strict new hillside/ridgeline protection ordinances. I also voted against a massive housing project in Bollinger Canyon, in part because it could not address wildfire and safety concerns. No development is acceptable without these protections assured.

I support managed downtown growth that will achieve our vision for a Moraga with a vibrant town center while retaining its special small-town ambiance. I will pursue fiscally disciplined measures to attract new businesses that can provide the amenities we want right here so we keep our tax dollars in Moraga to fund urgently needed infrastructure improvements and Town services.

I am proud of my record of civic participation. I moved to Moraga from Lafayette where I served two terms on the Lafayette School Board and also on the Parks & Recreation Commission. In Moraga, I served two years on the Design Review Board and three on the Planning Commission, including two years as its current Chairperson.

I serve on the Board of the Moraga Community Foundation.

These are unique and trying times. Our need for Councilmembers with town governance experience is critical.

Thank you for your consideration of my candidacy. I respectfully ask for your vote.
